About Lizanne Laurin Artist

I create across many mediums, transforming paint, ink, collage, and gold leaf into images that hold spirit and story. My work moves between figuration and abstraction—sometimes dreamlike or whimsical, sometimes bold and surprising. Each piece begins with a spark of possibility and follows it somewhere unexpected.

Aerial dance and hairstyling shape how I think about movement, expression, and transformation. Creating helps me become more fully myself: to share my gifts and find the courage to shine. From my home in Manitoba’s Interlake region, and as a Métis artist, I also take part in community mural projects that bring art into shared spaces.About Lizanne Laurin Artist

These are my Inspirations:

Mixed Media -I create across many mediums, transforming paint, ink, collage, and gold leaf into images that hold spirit and story. In my work, the story  moves between figuration and abstraction—sometimes dreamlike or whimsical, sometimes bold and surprising. Each piece begins with a spark of possibility and follows it somewhere unexpected.

You never know exactly what i've used in my artwork until you observe it. My process encompasses many materials and textures that are delicious to the eyes.

Aerial  Silks and Choreography

I am an aerial silks instructor and choreographer which is art with movement and music. It is a big influence on the paintings I produce.

Hairstyling and Mentoring

For three decades I have been a hairstylist and educator/mentor for the art of styling hair. I see beauty in everyone. This  influence is also prevalent in my work.

Murals 

I've had the pleasure to be part of an incredible team of artists in the Interlake region in Manitoba who paint  murals in the area to help beautify and bring awareness to our community.

Photography and all other art forms

I have dabbled in many other art forms. Expression and creativity makes my heart sing. Self-expression simply makes me feel alive.

ORIGINALS
"Courage in the Light and Shadow" depicts a woman in a red dress being drawn into a vortex tempting her shadow side. A tiger, her spirit animal is roaring to get her attention to remember her true nature. Here the spirit animal, white tiger symbolizes strength and power reminding her of the immense inner strength, bravery and ability to overcome that she possesses. He acts as a guardian and protector against negative forces that the monkey on her back is representing. She is on a path to a spiritual awakening, an enlightening. Lizanne Laurin artist at L2 Studio
Steam Punk Queen is a beautiful woman's portrait at the shoulders, dressed in "Steam Punk" attire, a sub-genre of science fiction and retro-futuristic sub-culture that blends 19th century technology and Victorian fashion. PRODUCTS
PRINTS
Celestial Silks is a self portrait of a roll in mid flight as Lizanne Laurin artist performs in the aerial silks. Suspended in air with the silks floating in painted movement, against a celestial backdrop, layered in mixed media, of inks, acrylic, oil, and selective gold leaf application, the dreamlike portrait encompasses one of her passions.
